| Similar to Delhi elections BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) was ousted from power in Rajasthan also. Earlier Mrs. Vasundhara Raje Scindhia was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. She belongs to a Royal family. It is a popular belief in the political circles that Vasundhara Raje’s policies are responsible for her debacle in the recent Assembly polls. In a democratic country she literally acted like a queen. She was quite repressive during the Gujjar agitation where the Gujjar’s were demanding ST status. Atleast thirty demonstrators had lost their lives and some ninety were injured during the agitation. From inside her palace she ordered the police to remove the agitators. People who have the right to give the verdict finally flocked to the polling booth cast their votes in favour of Congress party and found an alternative in Mr Ashok Gehlot the leader of Congress Party. In a democratic society people have the final say and after five years period when the public got a chance they finally showed their power of vote. In Rajasthan Congress gained the mileage from the BJP. During Mrs. Scindhia’s tenure hardly any developmental projects were carried out. Due to hatred against BJP policies people came out and cast their votes in favour of another alternative that is Congress party. Due to highhandedness of Mrs. Vasundhara Raje Scindhia Congress gained the popularity and hence the power. It is assumed that Mr Ashok Gehlot would learn lessons from his predecessor and would not carry out the same mistake. |
